Tweet Meet Event with IAC is a Success – Video Within

The month long campaign with IAC (Infocomm Accessibility Centre) has finally come to an end with the Tweet Meet at SMU park on Saturday (26th Jun 2010). The sky was kind to us with nice weather although the ground is still damp with the previous day of raining. To me, it might just be the beginning to spread the awareness of IAC to each and everyone of us.

I love the venue. The lush greenery and people listening to the bands playing and singing and at the same time, having their picnic, makes the event warmer.

Here is a close up of the tentage.

In order for attendees to enjoy and soak into the atmosphere, each was given a goodies bag.

I can see many people with disabilities in this event. There were also others who are curious and of course, enjoy the music and songs.

Of course, amid of these celebration, there is one strong message that IAC wish to bring across.

“Know Somebody, Grow Somebody”

During the events, we were shown how people with disabilities overcome their fear with technology and manage to be able to use them to their advantage. For example, Twitter becomes a kind of expression for them. Skype makes it easy for them to see their friends and chatting is not restricted to a common place now. It can be done at their comfort of their home.

Here is a video clip of a live Skype call out to one of the participants.

With Skype, anyone can even use sign language to communicate and it was demonstrated to us.

Notice the lady in a red and black dress. She was there to use sign language to interpret the songs and words. It means that nobody is left out.

Likewise, IAC hopes to increase the general public awareness on how it can help people with disabilities.Nobody should be left behind.

Remember the IAC tour that I went last time? In fact, many of the bloggers went. We were glad to be able to share our experiences with the general public that day. We talked about how we get to know about IAC and how IAC can really reach out to the people in needs.

Many people might feel sad, depressed or shy to seek or approach for help. YOU can be the one to help them. Let them know about IAC and the courses that they provide.

They will be grateful to you one day.

The event went on smoothly and more songs and the photographers were eager to help anyone to take a picture and print them out as a token.

I have to thanks IAC for giving me the chance to look at the other side of Technology where not many people use or think of using. It was an eye opener for me and many others.
