HUAWEI Mate40 Pro Available from 12th Dec but At What Price?

The HUAWEI Mate40 Pro price is out. And you don’t have to wait long to get it. Huawei mentions that it is releasing in limited quantities, and you will get free gifts with the purchase.

At what price, you might ask? When it was launched in October 2020 in a virtual event, the HUAWEI Mate40 Pro was announced to retail at 1,199 Euros. Finally, after more than a month of waiting, the pricing is out. The HUAWEI Mate40 Pro will retail at S$1,598 for the 8GB RAM+256GB Storage model, and in two colors – Mystic Silver or Black, starting from 12th December 2020.

You can get your hands on the HUAWEI Mate 40 Pro at all Huawei Concept Stores, major telecommunication operators M1, Singtel, Starhub; consumer electronic stores (available online only) including Best Denki, Challenger & Hachi.tech, Courts, Harvey Norman, Sprint-Cass and Huawei official online stores in Lazada and Shopee.  Customers will also receive a HUAWEI SuperCharge Wireless Stand (40W) worth S$148 with every purchase, while stocks last.

Review

Thanks to Huawei, I had the chance to take a look at it in early November 2020. If you have not noticed, it was posted on TechieLobang YouTube channel.

Lets be honest. The current Huawei phones do not come with GMS (Google Mobile Service). Instead, it has HMS (Huawei Mobile Service). This is a deal breaker for many outside of China.

Nevertheless, Huawei has not stop innovating (although I admit that for the Mate40 Pro, it might not seem a lot).

Finally, you will get a wide angle camera for the front-facing camera. We have been waiting for it for a long time and it is now here. I can tell you, it is amazing to have a wide angle camera.

You might want to know about the rear facing camera. I have no time to do a thorough review. Anyway, I love the AI trying to provide the DOF in this picture.

When it comes to taking food, the AI also automatically kicks in. Here is one shot of a steak.

On the exterior, it has the waterfall display, and a new mystic silver color which I loved.

If you turn it to another angle, it seems to display another color.

And here is the exterior of the HUAWEI Mate40 Pro.

It comes with the transparent phone cover which is good enough for daily use.

The HUAWEI Mate40 Pro comes with a 66w charger.

It is really fast. You can check out my video here.

Here is the 66w SuperCharger compared to the 40w and the 22.5w. The 66w charger is just a little larger than the 40w charger.

BTW, did you know that TraceTogether app is now on Huawei AppGallery. This is really important (for people in Singapore) as most venues would need you to use the TraceTogether for contact tracing purposes during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition to contact tracing, the app saves users’ personal details, eliminating repetitive input of information for SafeEntry check in.
