Thanks to Toyota for the invite, I am able to witness the launch of the 2014 Toyota Corolla Altis in Singapore. The event was held at White Rabbit for the Media.
I like the venue. It has a large carpark for placing the cars and to let us park within the compound.
She is our host for the event.
Here is Mr. Koh Ching Hong, Managing Director of Borneo Motors welcoming us and a special guest, Mr. Yasui, Chief Engineer of the Toyota Corolla Altis.
Taking the stage is Mr. Shinichi Yasui. He spoke with passion about the new Altis and its features.
Now, the executives taking questions from the Media. One question for the media is on the model of Altis. Previously, we had the 1.8 liter version. The media is interested to know if Toyota (or Borneo Motors) has such version and if yes, will they bring it in. The answer from them is quite standard as expected. Currently, they are focused on the 1.6l. As for another question on a Hybrid model, Toyota mentioned that it will be checking the demand first.
Finally, time to test drive the all new 2014 Toyota Corolla Altis. I am not a car fanatic. So, pardon me for not being able to give a deep insight on the Altis. Here some of the pictures taken.
Check out the new Dual VVTi logo on Altis which is supposedly to provide high fuel efficiency.
Basically, in my opinion, the look of the Altis is totally changed (for the better of course). It is not curvy but very defined.
The LED headlight is something you ought to check out.
And the side mirrors come with side light indicators.
Here is the back view.
On the interior, the first noticeable change is the ample leg space and the car seats. It is more comfortable. The back seats are not bad too.
The dashboard is something that interest me the most. Check out the display. I like it.
And it comes with touch screen media player with built in Navigation software.
It has a Nanoe Auto-Climate Aircon. The Nanoe generator helps to clean the air as it cools, suppressing allergens and odour.
It comes with a 7-Speed Super CVT-i gear shift.
Two cup holder for putting your beverages.
And the compartment is quite spacious.
The door, in my opinion has lots of subtle details.
Here is a short test drive video, thanks to Dennis from SuperAdrianMe for taking this video
As the test drive is too short and most of the distance is on small lanes, it is not enough to enjoy the full features of this Altis. However, I do think that the 3-layered Acoustic Glass helps to reduce the noise.
Overall, Toyota has done a nice job in this 2014 Toyota Corolla Altis. It is perfect as a family sedan for a small family with its big spacious car boot and features like complying with international safety standards (for ISO-Fix mounting points) for securing up to two child seats. If you are really interested, do go to the showroom for a test drive. To know more, you can check out the Press Release
