Canon today introduces the high performance LCOS (Liquid Crystal on Silicon) projectors for the Singapore market. They are the XEED WUX450 (S$7,700) and WX520 (S$7,000). They are designed for business and educational environments. More information in the Press Release.
Canon introduces sleek, high-performance LCOS projectors to provide industry leading experiences for medical, educational and boardroom environments
SINGAPORE, 29 October 2013 – Canon today announced the addition of the 4500-lumen WUX450 (with WUXGA resolution of 1920 x 1200), and the 5200-lumen WX520 (with WXGA+ resolution of 1440 x 900) into its XEED range of projectors. The two new high-powered LCOS (Liquid Crystal on Silicon) projectors are designed for business and educational environments including but not limited to boardrooms, educational institutions and medical facilities.
“Canon’s new XEED projectors feature a unique and unparalleled combination of high quality LCOS projection and constant F2.8 brightness.” said Edwin Teoh, Assistant Director for Consumer Business Marketing of Canon Singapore. “Their compact size and high-powered performance as compared to larger units of projectors in the same class allow for greater flexibility in meeting the needs of our customers.”
Crystal clear projection
The high contrast ratio of 2000:1 for both projectors adds greater versatility and allows for high-quality projection of HD movies, complex spreadsheets and vivid photos. The key to the WUX450 and WX520’s high image and video projection quality is Canon’s newly developed proprietary Aspectual Illumination System (AISYS) 5.0 optical system. Besides providing optimum image clarity and accuracy, the AISYS 5.0 optical system also ensures minimal loss of lamp light which in turn translates into brighter images and better energy efficiency.
The newly developed engine in both projectors also brings about image enhancement technologies like motion blur reduction that allows for sharp projection of fast-moving video content and is perfect for projecting driving simulations and video games. Other image enhancement technologies include edge enhancement, dynamic gamma correction and memory color correction. Fuzzy and jagged text in normal scaling functions can also be avoided with the help of the new technology.
New Constant F number 2.8 for consistent brightness regardless of projection distance
Equipped with a 1.8x projection lens and a fixed F no. 2.8, the new XEED WUX450 and WX520 projectors are designed to deliver consistent brightness throughout the entire specified projection distance. F no. 2.8 provides a deep depth of field for the projected images, which ensures that images will always have sharp details in focus even when projecting onto a screen from an angle or onto uneven surfaces. Intricate details of images will also always be retained regardless of the size of the projection.
In addition, the projectors also feature the new Edge Blending function that allows for the projection of an extremely large image using two projectors with each displaying a portion of the overall image. This new function enables users to adjust the projections where both portions are overlapped and intelligently reduces the brightness of the overlapped area, creating a seamless complete image without any additional brightness.
New simultaneous projection of two imageries
A new feature in both the LCOS projectors is the ability to simultaneously project two high-quality images from different digital sources. For example, the projectors can project a PowerPoint presentation from a PC connected to their DVI port, while at the same time project a HD video from a Blu-Ray player connected to the HDMI port.
DICOM standard for medical uses
Also designed for use in the field of medical education, both new projectors support the DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) SIM* mode 14. This industry standard sets the parameters for the display of images in grayscale, suited for use in lectures at medical schools, academic meetings and in-hospital conferences.
There are two preset modes – blue base and clear base and users can also adjust the color tone according to their preferences.
*The DICOM Simulation Mode is not for medical diagnosis purposes. Mode 14 is compliant with the DICOM display standard.
Exceptional energy efficiency & durability
The eco-friendly XEED WUX450 and WX520 consume energy at 0.081 watts and 0.068 watts per lumen respectively, and this efficiency is maintained even when the projectors are on standby mode thus making them the lowest energy consumption projectors among its class. The XEED WUX450 and WX520 projectors boast a lamp lifespan of 3,000 and 5,000 hours, and air filter, which can last for approximately 12,000 hours.
Smaller footprint
Smaller and lighter than projectors in the same class, the XEED WUX450 and WX520 projectors measure only 337 (L) x 362 (W) x 118 (H) mm (excluding protrusions) in size and weigh a mere 5.9kg. The projector’s sleek design features a flat surface top and bottom, which allows for greater flexibility for installation options. These projectors can also be easily placed on desktops, stacked or mounted on ceilings, and even be used for upward and downward projections.
Easy updates and upkeep
Future firmware updates can be downloaded into a USB flash drive and installed into the projectors via the USB terminals. In addition, the designs of the projectors allows for convenient access to replace parts, with lamp and filter covers that are easy to open and close.
Price and Availability
The XEED WUX450 and WX520 will be available 1 November 2013 at Canon’s authorized dealers at the recommended retail prices of SGD$7,700 and SGD$7,000 respectively.
