Google Acquired Motorola Mobility to Supercharge Android?

It seems that these days, software companies have to buy hardware companies to compete. Google has acquired Motorola Mobility for US$12.5 billion. Does that means Google is “on par” with the competitors?

Now, if you notice, Apple is a hardware and software company creating a storm in hardware industry with the iPhone. Microsoft acquired Nokia (which does hardware and software) to create up and coming WP7 devices. Sorry, some correction. Microsoft DID NOT acquire Nokia. Nokia and Microsoft have signed a definitive agreement for their strategic partnership to build a new global mobile ecosystem. (sorry for the confusion).

With Google acquiring Motorola Mobility, Google is now on level ground with these competitors. No wonder Google has to do it. If you want to hear more from Google, click the below link.

From Engadget, it seems that other brands are coming to terms with the news and agreeing that it will benefit them as Google is “defending Android and its partners”.

Just hope that with the acquisition, we will see better Android OSes and awesome Android devices from Motorola. 🙂
