The Canon PowerShot ZOOM is an interesting product. It is a digital monocular and also a camera. If you like wildlife and wish to view them from afar, this product is definitely a must-have. It will be available in Singapore from April 2021.
Of course, there are other usages, not necessarily wildlife. It is a camera and video recorder. I am not sure if we can bring this to a concert in the near future (no thanks to COVID-19) and record some of the more interesting segments.
Here are the different views of the Canon PowerShot Zoom.
The PowerShot ZOOM is not heavy. At 145g, it can easily slip into your bag. You can use it with just one hand. It does not have complicated buttons. Just 3 buttons. It has an optical zoom of up to 400mm with Optical 4-AXIS IS (Image stabilizer). Do note that it has a fixed zoom at 100mm, 400mm, and 800mm (2x digital zoom). By pressing the button, it can jump to 100mm to 400mm and finally to 800mm.
It has a 1/3-inch CMOS sensor that has a camera effective pixels of 12.1 megapixels. It shoots movie at 1,920 x 1,080 (Full HD). And it uses USB-C to charge the internal lithium ion batttery. Its recording media is MicroSD card.
For sharing on various social media platforms, images recorded on the PowerShot ZOOM can be transferred to a smartphone via Canon’s Camera Connect app wirelessly or via wired USB. With the Camera Connect app, users can perform remote shooting and share the images being viewed in real-time, on a smartphone.
When the PowerShot ZOOM is connected to a smartphone via a wired USB cable, it is recognized as a USB mass storage device, and images can be imported into the smartphone.
