Huawei Launches the HUAWEI Mate X2

Huawei launches the HUAWEI Mate X2 today in a virtual event. It will be available from 25th February 2021 in China. One of the biggest changes in the HUAWEI Mate X2 is that it now folds inwards instead of outwards.

This is similar to Samsung Z Fold2. However, Huawei has enhanced the experience by making sure that aesthetically, the phone looks great.

Unlike most foldable phones, the Mate X2 has zero gaps when folded. It cleverly folds the screen inside the hinge area creating a waterdrop-shaped cavity.

Another unique look of the phone is that when opened up, both sides has different thickness.

The thicker side houses the camera module and the thinner side (at just 4.4mm) houses the screen and minimum components.

The phone has an 8.01-inch screen when fully unfolds. The screen facing outside is 6.45-inch. At quick glance, I guess you might not notice that it is a foldable phone.

The phone is powered by Kirin 9000 5G chip. Here are the specs. You can check out the full specs HERE.

The HUAWEI Mate X2 is available in 4 colors.

Here is the product video.

Pricing of the HUAWEI Mate X2 is not cheap. I believe it has got to do with the number of screens.

That is around S$3.9k for the 512GB after currency conversion.
