Google launches 3 products yesterday. They are the Google Pixel 4a, Google Pixel 5 5G, and the Google Pixel 4a 5G. I am lucky to get hold of the Google Pixel 4a that will be launching in Singapore soon.

The Google Pixel 4a is the only phone from the series to make it to Singapore (as of now). It is currently on pre-order at S$499 on Google Store, Amazon Singapore, Challenger Online, and Courts Online. It will be available on Google Store from 10th September.
Google Pixel 4a
Here is a video on the first look of the Google Pixel 4a. If you are interested in the casing, it is also featured in the video.
As I mentioned in the video, I just got the phone a few hours ago. As such, this will be a first look at the phone instead of a full review.
The review unit I have is black in color. In fact, there is only one color, “Just Black”, for the Google Pixel 4a. It has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
It also comes with a 18W charger and a USB-C cable. There is NO earphones in the package.
Here is what you should get: –
- 18 W USB-C® power adaptor
- 1 m USB-C to USB-C cable (USB 2.0)
- Quick Start Guide
- Quick Switch adaptor
- SIM tool
The Google Pixel 4a is an entry-level phone. At under S$500, you need to adjust your expectation on it. If you need the full specs, check it out HERE.

First Look
Check out the pictures of the phone below.
This is the back of the phone. Immediately, you will notice the fingerprint sensor and the rear camera. For Google Pixel 4a, it comes with only one rear 12.2 MPX camera.

Here is a closer look at the rear camera and the fingerprint sensor.

BTW, it has only one front facing camera (8 MPX).

On the top, it has a microphone and the 3.5mm headphone jack.

A close up of the 3.5mm headphone jack.

On the bottom, it has the USB-C Port and speaker grille.

On one side, it has the Power on/off button and the volume rocker switch.

On this side, it has the nano SIM card slot. Do note that the eSIM is available in certain region (dependent on Service Provider).

Here is a close up of the nano SIM card slot.

Google Pixel 4a Casing
The Google Pixel 4a does not come with any casing. You will need to buy the casing. It is not cheap. At S$60, I believe it will put people off.
Based on Google, 70% of the material on the casing is made of recycle material.

Personally, I love the quality and feel of the cover. It is very sturdy and seems to be able to withstand knocks and low height drop.

Here is the internal of the casing. The casing comes in three colors – “Blue Confetti”, “Static Grey” and “Basically Black”. The review set I got is “Basically Black”.

Summary
As I have not started to use the phone, it is difficult to summarize. Nevertheless, based on the short time with it, I can say that it feels premium. The phone itself is well-built. Pricing wise, it might not be the cheapest. However, you are getting the latest OS and design from Google. The User Interface is clean, neat, and simple. With this phone, you get to enjoy the latest innovation from Google before it hits other phones (e.g. exclusive recorder app that can translate the speech)
I will do a review on it after I used it for while. If you have any questions about it, do let me know.
