StarHub Soars Ahead with Largest 4G Roaming Footprint

Ongoing LTE-Advanced upgrade to boost speeds to 300Mbps

Singapore, 8 September 2014 – Starting today, StarHub Mobile customers can enjoy 4G data access on 25 overseas mobile networks in 21 countries, including Australia, China, Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, US and UK. With this, customers will be able to enjoy blazing fast surfing speeds in the most number of roaming destinations at the same data roaming rates as 3G.

“We are delighted to offer the widest 4G data roaming coverage, giving our customers a great just-like-home 4G experience across 21 popular travel destinations. Paired with StarHub’s simple-to-use data roaming plans like RoamEasy, our travellers can roam easily, affordably and with much peace-of-mind,” said Mr Chan Kin Hung, StarHub’s Senior Vice President of Mobility. “Customers can look forward to more 4G roaming destinations in the coming months, as we continue to enhance our unique hassle-free data roaming services.”

In June 2014, StarHub multiplied the number of countries covered by its two data roaming plans – DataRoam Daily Unlimited (from $15/day when connected to StarHub’s preferred roaming partners) and RoamEasy Daily ($10/50MB on any mobile network) – to offer customers substantial savings and greater peace-of-mind while roaming. On the local front, StarHub performed well in IDA’s latest 3G Quality of Service audits, notably in nationwide outdoor and in-building coverage as well as call success rates.

“We are not stopping here; our network upgrading works continue non-stop to ensure quality 4G voice and data connectivity for our customers anytime, anywhere,” added Mr Chan. “By end this year, we will up total 4G base station count by 70% to enhance in-building coverage and boost peak speeds from 75Mbps to 300Mbps across Singapore, starting with the Central Business District.”
