SingTel today announced that they are the first in the world to offer commercial 300 Mbps 4G service. This announcement is accompanied with the launch of the Huawei E5786 mobile that is capable of this speed.
At launch, the coverage will be limited but SingTel has made plans to ensure more coverage towards the end of the year, and nationwide coverage by end of 1st Q of 2015.
For those who have no idea how fast it is, the current speed on older devices that uses 4G is just 75Mbps and for some new devices, it can go up to 150Mbps. So, 300Mbps is really fast. I am sure that those who enjoyed this speed who not be able to go back again 🙂 .

SingTel first in the world to offer commercial 300Mbps 4G service with Huawei mobile broadband device
Singapore 23 July 2014 – SingTel today announced it is the first mobile operator in the world to offer a commercial 300Mbps 4G service with the launch of the Huawei E5786 mobile MiFi device.
This is the first mobile broadband device globally to be compatible with cutting-edge LTE-Advanced networks, which can deliver ultra-fast data speeds of up to 300Mbps. It will be available from 24 July from SingTel’s retail outlets and online shop (www.singtelshop.com) at $399. Customers can also purchase it at a discounted price of $168 with any SingTel 24-month mobile broadband plan.
Mr Johan Buse, SingTel’s Vice President of Consumer Marketing, said: “With multimedia applications consuming increasingly more bandwidth, speed is everything. The launch of the Huawei E5786 enables us to bring the benefits of LTE-Advanced services to Singaporeans before anyone else in the world. In addition to the Huawei E5786, other LTE-Advanced enabled devices, including smartphones and tablets, will be available from SingTel in the coming months.
All SingTel 4G customers with compatible devices will be able to enjoy the 300Mbps service at no extra charge.
Update on LTE-Advanced roll-out
SingTel is rapidly expanding its LTE-Advanced network, including outdoor and in-building locations. Coverage is currently available at Changi Airport, Singapore Expo and the area around Bugis MRT station.
Customers can expect coverage in the CBD, Orchard, Shenton Way and City Hall areas by the end of August. More than half of the island will be covered by the end of October and nationwide coverage is expected by the end of the first quarter of 2015.
