Adobe Plenoptic Lenses Can Refocus An Image at Any Point – Video Within

Adobe Plenoptic Lenses might be the future of imaging. Adobe has developed the Plenoptic lenses that add as a filter when placed in front of a lens (e.g. a camera). Using Adobe software, it is able to decode the information and focus the picture at any point. Amazing.

How it works.

The Adobe Plenoptic Lens is made of tiny lenses (with curvature, I think). Each lens will be able to collect a part of the picture.

Then, using Adobe software, it is able to decode the information collected by these lenses and turn it into a picture. And, because of the unique lenses, they are able to carry more information.

That means with clever manipulation, the picture can be focused at different point and depth of field.

I hope Canon can ride on this technology for its Wonder Camera.

Here is the video.
