PC Show 2010 Highlights, Products that You May Miss – Video Within

Finally, I went to PC Show 2010. It was the last day of the show. The traffic at Suntec was bad and the crowd is even worse. However, when I was inside the hall, it seems spacious. Only a pocket of crowds on booths that give “special” prices at selected hours. It is interesting to see many vendors selling iPad accessories although it has not reached our shore yet.

Here is another one.

The PC Show is always the best place to find a good deal. Most of the things that you see are not new products. The attractive thing about them is the price. It will be lower, especially for Storage drives and etc.

I have been to many PC shows. Many say it is always the same thing but every time I visit such shows, and if time permits, I will talk to vendors that are promoting up and coming products.

This time, I visited McCoy. There are always new products from McCoy. This first one that caught my interest is Chumby (S$279).

They called it the embedded computer. For those who are not into Social Media, many functions may not appeal to them. It has RSS feeds, Facebook, Twitter, clock and many other into one. And it is a touch screen (resistive) device.

It has built in WiFi (802.11b/g) that allows RSS to stream into it.

I searched around. There are other versions of Chumby.

McCoy is also selling Anti-Shock iPhone cover.

It has 3 layers of protection for iPhone. This phone (a real one) has been drop numerous times during the show and it is still working. The protection makes the iPhone bulkier. I wonder if this is similar to this iBand or not.

McCoy is also selling anti-scratch protection for iPhone. I am contacting the person in charge to share with me the video I saw on the show.

Moving on, I came to this booth selling gadgets. They called it 007 gadgets! Actually, they are a company selling CCTV products. I guess they saw the market on tiny video cameras (aka spycam) and gadgets.

Spy Sunglasses (S$135 during PC Show)

It has an internal storage of 4GB and an expandable MicroSD card slot. It takes video in 640 X 480 resolution.

The next one is a Microscope

Microscope (S$28 during PC Show)

It has a magnification of 60x to 100x. It has a light source (LED) powered by 3 button batteries.

Two dial switch. One for zoom control and one for focus.

Here is a result of my experiment with a strand of hair at maximum zoom.

Next, I went to another booth (not very prominent) that is quite small. It has a range of mouse that I think no one bothers. However, one of them caught my eyes.

Icon7  Twister Evolution Presenter Laser Pocket Mouse (S$99)

Twist it and it becomes a presentor with laser pointer

Presenter mode.

The Twister Evolution is a 2009 product but seems that it is new in Singapore. According to the company representative, they are doing a soft launch here and you will hear more about them in near future.

I will be doing a review on it shortly (yes, I bought it 🙂 ).

Next, I went to the MiLi booth that has many products on iPhone. I went straight to Power Pico Projector for iPhone.

Stated clearly in the brochure, the selling price is S$699. However, during the show, it is at S$599. When I talked to the sales people, they were selling it at S$499 during the PC Show.

It was sold out and they are taking pre-order at the show with a special price of S$429.

According to them, it can project a screen size of 50-inches. Nevertheless, don’t expect too much from a pico projector. You will need a dark room to see a clear projection.

It has an internal battery that can last 2 hours.

And you can connect external speakers via a 3.5mm jack. Apart from the iPhone, you can actually project the video via composite cables (red, white and yellow cable) and also via VGA adapter.

I did a short video on it.

I also visited EastGear and they are focused on selling Holux latest 5-inch GPS Navigation unit, Holux 62F.

It is selling at S$199 during the show and with additional S$60, you will get a RDS-TMC (Radio Data System – Traffic Message Channgel) module for real time LTA Live Traffic update (free 2 years subscription).

Finally, the last item I wanted to share is vehicle video recording system. This product is True-i (selling at S$499 including installation).

It has a nice specifications with built in GPS.

I hope that you have enjoyed my coverage. Before I end this post, here are the prizes that you could win from PC Show 2010 🙂 .
