Starbucks Opens Roastery in Shanghai, Powered by Alibaba (video)

Starbucks opened its latest store in Shanghai, China. Unlike other Starbucks stores, this Shanghai branch is a Roastery and integrates a real-time, in-store and online customer experience, powered by Alibaba’s Taobao app and AR (Augmented Reality) technology.

This two-storey Starbucks covers 30,000-square-foot and is the second roastery after Seattle (home of Starbucks). It has small-lot Reserve coffee (hence the name Starbucks Reserve Roastery) sourced from around the globe, including China’s Yunnan province and is prepared on-site for sales and consumption.

Check out this video showing the innovation in this store and also check out Jack Ma who was invited to grace the store’s opening.
