Attended the Star Wars Run Singapore 2017 as a participant and also as a media. I think this is not the best combination, especially having to run with the gears. This is the first time that the Star Wars Run is held in Singapore. Based on the official information, a total of 15,000 people participated in the run forming the Dark Side and the Light Side.
Here are the video highlights of the Star Wars run, which includes Chewbacca and Kylo Ren.
The starting point for the run is at the Bayfront Event Space and the end point is at The Meadow at the Gardens by the Bay. Love the city backdrop at the start point.
Before the start of the race, the comperes had some fun interviewing the participants.
The crowd gathered fast at the starting point. From my understanding, they segregate the race (10km and 4.5km) into two sessions each to avoid congestion at some choke points. Here is a view of the participants waiting for the 10km race to start.
Amazingly, the race started on the dot. Here are my observation and comments from my friends.
- The 10km run is actually more than 10km. In fact, it is more than 10.5km.
- Some of my friends were stopped to let car to pass at certain places. I think this situation can be improved.
- Love the Coconut drinks.
- Love the ambiance along the way except for some dark areas for the 10km run.
- Love the smooth flow towards the end of the race.
- And finally, nice medal but I believe the Star Wars Run event T-shirt can be improved (very thin and quality don’t seem to be that good).
Thank you Esprimo for the invite. Next time, I will have to think about whether to become Media and run at the same time or not.
