Motorola adds Modular Options to Moto Z and Moto Z Force (video)

Today, Motorola (now owned by Lenovo) announces the arrival of the Motorola Moto Z and Moto Z Force smartphones. One of the unique features of the smartphones is the ability to snap on modules (or Moto Mods) to transform them to have unique usage – Speaker, Projector, extended battery.

Using very strong magnets, the Moto Mods are easily snapped onto the Moto Z and Moto Z Force. Some of the Moto Mods are: – Insta-share Projector, JBL SoundBoost speaker, Incipio offGRID Power Pack. Unlike LG G5 or Project Ara, there is no need to power down the phone when using the Moto Mods. Just snap them on and start using. Check out this video.

The Moto Z and Moto Z Force has a respectable specs. However, Moto Z has only 2,600mAh battery, which is not very high capacity. Moto Z Force has a bigger capacity battery of 3,500mAh. Both phones are 5.5-inch and do not have 3.5mm jack. Instead, it uses an USB-C port. An adapter is provided so that you can continue to use the conventional headphones.

As of now, both the Moto Z and Moto Z Force, together with the Moto Mods, will only be available in the US. No information on when it will be available elsewhere in the world.
