Singtel users will be delighted to know that Singtel has announced a new subscription-based add-on, DataX2, that will double the data monthly. At a low flat monthly fee of S$5.90, Singtel Combo plan users (except Combo 1) will be able to enjoy twice the data. For example, a Combo 6 user with 6GB of data will get 12GB once he/she subscribes to DataX2.
Surprisingly, the pricing for DataX2 subscription is a flat S$5.90 for all the Combo plans. So, if you are at the highest tier (i.e. Combo 12), you will get 24Gb of data monthly. Do note that it is NOT applicable for Combo 1 and you must re-contract or a new customer to enjoy this add-on.
In my opinion, this is like a royalty program for Singtel customers and a way to tie them down. With the new fourth telco “coming soon”, I believe Singtel has started their internal campaign to ensure that their customers will continue to stay with them and also to attract more customers.
Instead of denouncing their future competitor, Singtel’s latest approach seems to be addressing to the needs of their current customers. Since the cutting of data years ago, customers like myself have been complaining about it.
Their Datamore add-on can address to the issue but at a price. The more data you want, the higher the price you pay. with DataX2, Singtel automatically doubles your data and when coupled with Datamore add-on, I believe it will satisfy some of the customers.

Singtel offers double the data with DataX2
First-of-its-kind option doubles data for a flat fee
Singapore, 9 March, 2016 – In conjunction with the opening of IT Show 2016, Singtel will launch DataX2, a new add-on that offers customers double their mobile data allowance for a flat fee of S$5.90 a month.
The new data option is an extension of Singtel’s move to offer more data-centric services following the introduction of its popular SIM Only Plan last year. Today’s customers need even more data given their changing consumption of entertainment content and DataX2 will allow them to double their data allowance for just S$5.90 a month whenever they sign up or re-contract on one of Singtel’s Combo Mobile Plans (Combo 2 and above).
For example, a customer on a S$62.90 a month Combo 3 Plan with 3GB of data, can simply add DataX2 to enjoy 6GB of data for S$5.90 more a month.

Customers who sign up for DataX2 at IT Show 2016, online or at any Singtel Shop and Singtel Exclusive Retailer from 10 March 2016 will be able to enjoy double the data immediately.
