Samsung debuts GALAXY S6 and S6 Edge with built in battery (video)

Samsung debuted its latest flagship models, the 5.1-inch Samsung GALAXY S6 and GALAXY S6 Edge in Barcelona. Both will be available in some countries from 10th April 2015. At the same event, Samsung also debuts Samsung Pay which will be available in US and Korea for a start.

Here is the intro video.

One of the biggest changes in this latest Samsung GALAXY S6 is that this model will have built in battery. I am not sure if this will go well with supporters of external battery. Nevertheless, Samsung assured everyone that they have improved the charging so much that they think users need not worry so much about battery.

In this S6, Samsung is claiming that you can have 4 hours of usage with just 10 minutes of charge. Not sure if this will be interesting for those who work outdoor and without a charging outlet or did not bring the charger.

Another feature for S6 is the incorporation of wireless charging. In previous models, you may have to change the back cover to enjoy wireless charging. Now, it is part of the design.

And if I read it correctly, there is no external MicroSD card slot. This might have created a big impact to some people. Thankfully, Samsung decided to provide 32GB, 64GB and 128GB options for users. Personally, I like internal storage.

The rear camera for the GALAXY S6 and S6 Edge is now 16 MPX with a big aperture of F1.9 and OIS (Optical Image Stabilizer). The pixels is stated to be bigger than the previous model (means better performance in low light condition).

The front camera is 5 MPX and with an aperture of F1.9.

From the initial look, I think the Samsung GALAXY S6 / S6 Edge is a fingerprint magnet. It has very glossy design and I can foresee people cleaning their phones more often.

Samsung also introduces Samsung Pay. It is touted to be better than using just NFC solution as it is compatible with credit/debit card readers.

And just to let you know, Samsung also redesign the UI. I think it looks much better than before.
