As most of us are struggling with the battery life of our smartphone, an Israeli company, StoreDot might have the solution. They have found the way to fully charge our smartphones in seconds (not even minutes). Check out how it can charge a Samsung GALAXY S4 in 30 seconds.

Now, this might be the dream of everyone who owns a smartphone. However, before you rejoice, the technology is not quite there yet. The phone charger is now the size of a laptop adapter. We might need to wait till 2016 to see something more portable.
Here is the video.
The essence of this super fast charging is the battery. It is not the usual Lithium battery that we know. It is a totally new concept of battery. From TNW:
In essence, what we have developed is a new generation of an electrode with new materials – we call it MFE – Multi Function Electrode. One side acts like a Supercapacitor (very fast charging), and the other is like a Lithium electrode (slow discharge). The electrolyte is modified as well with our nanodots in order to allow for the multifunction electrode to be effective. Although not quite there yet, we are aiming for the same capacity as a Li-ion battery (~2000mAh). Self-discharge is similar to Li-ion as well. We anticipate to reach this goal in one year. Mass production in planned for late 2016.
This is something I am really looking forward to. Instead of getting a longer lasting battery, I don’t mind getting a battery that charge up in 30 seconds 🙂 .
