Intel® Extreme Masters Brings World-Class Gaming Action Back to SITEX 2013
First-class Starcraft® II and League of Legends® players from around the globe will use skills and strategy to win USD 95,000 and claim a spot in the World Championship
SINGAPORE November 28, 2013 – Intel® Extreme Masters (IEM), one of the biggest international gaming competitions, is bringing the world’s best gamers back to Singapore during SITEX 2013. This tournament consists of qualifying competitions throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia with Singapore being the fourth stop, followed by Sao Paulo in February 2014, and the World Championship in March 2014.
IEM Singapore’s Professional Tournament segment will feature top-notch global players and experienced teams from Asia playing against each other in StarCraft® II and League of Legends®, two of the most popular titles in competitive gaming. The winners for StarCraft II will win USD 25,000, while the winners for League of Legends will get USD 50,000. Both teams will then qualify for the World Championship in Katowice, Poland. Four teams from Asia will also compete in an amateur tournament for League of Legends in order to walk away with USD 20,000.
IEM matches will be held live at the tournament stage to allow gaming fans in Singapore a rare chance to cheer for their favorite veteran gamers in action as they fight to advance to the finals.
“The objective of Intel® Extreme Masters has always been to develop competitive gaming worldwide and we are bringing this tournament back to Singapore as we see a lot of growth potential in South East Asia’s gaming market,” George Woo, Intel® Extreme Masters Marketing Manager. “Last year’s event generated a tremendous amount of excitement and support from the gaming community in this region. We hope to surpass last year’s success and continue to engage more gaming enthusiasts this year.
The Consumer Zone at this year’s IEM will showcase a wide array of high-end gaming platforms, including Clevo Niagara W740SU, Alienware M17X, ASUS G750J, and MSI GS70 20D-002US. For less hardcore gamers, they can visit the casual gaming section where a wide spectrum of 2-in-1 convertible Ultrabooks, tablets, AIOs, and smartphones will be on display.
These devices are powered by 4th Generation Intel® Core™ Processor and visitors can try out the latest graphic-intensive games, like Rome II and GRID 2. This will provide them with an opportunity to immerse themselves in the next level of gaming as they experience more realistic graphics and seamless gameplay made possible by Intel’s latest processors.
IEM 2013 will be happening with SITEX 2013 at the Singapore EXPO, Hall 4B. The event will run from November 28 to December 1, 2013, between 11am to 9pm.
