April 19, 2012
TOKYO – Nikon Corporation released its newest NIKKOR lens today, the AF-S NIKKOR 28mm f/1.8G, a fast, wide-angle, 28mm f/1.8 fixed focal length model compatible with Nikon’s FX-format.
Continuing its promise of expanding and strengthening the NIKKOR lineup with a steady release of new, high-performance lenses compatible with Nikon’s FX-format, the AF-S NIKKOR 28mm f/1.8G possesses the latest in optical design and exclusive Nikon technologies.
These technologies include Nano Crystal Coat and a Silent Wave Motor (SWM), making the AF-S NIKKOR 28mm f/1.8G an optimal complement to Nikon FX-format digital SLR cameras; further enhancing these cameras’ superior image quality and excellent rendering capabilities. This lens offers the sharp rendering of a fixed focal length lens and a bright maximum aperture of f/1.8 that allows users to shoot images with pleasing blur characteristics.
In addition, the latest optical design makes the AF-S NIKKOR 28mm f/1.8G a wide-angle lens that is perfect for landscapes and snapshots; as well as capturing a broad variety of scenes from everyday life, as well as unique photo opportunities during vacations and travels.
The Nikon D4 and Nikon D800/D800E FX-format digital SLR cameras released in early 2012 have received tremendous support from professional and advanced amateur photographers. And the new AF-S NIKKOR 28mm f/1.8G builds upon previously released f/1.8 lenses – the AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G and AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.8G. It responds to the needs of users who demand greater power of expression from a lens that maximizes the inherent qualities of Nikon’s FX-format digital SLR cameras – superior definition and image quality.
