This is good news to start a Monday. Marcus Thompson found a Canon EOS 1000D washed up near a wharf during a diving job in Deep Bay British Columbia. He brought it back and managed to salvaged 50 photos from the SD card. The pictures are about a year ago (based on the EXIF which stated August 2010)

As a Google+ user, he uploaded some pictures and try to derive the information on the pictures in one of his post. Thanks to the community, someone actually knows the owner and contacted him.

BTW, the owner is a Delta Fire Fighter from the British Columbia.
