If you have plug in an iPad to a computer’s USB 2.0 port, you might notice that it is “not” charging (as stated on the display). However, if you have your iPad plugged in long enough, you will actually know that it is charging except that it doesn’t provide you an indication on how many percent that the battery has.
Today, my friend introduced me to Asus Ai Charger. It is actually not a charger but a software. Although it is from Asus, it seems that it supports other motherboards for this charging purpose.
In its website, it states
With the exclusive ASUS Ai Charger, all of your motherboards, and desktops become universal chargers for your iPod, iPhone and now, the new iPad. Ai Charger turns any PC into a flexible power-up station for popular Apple devices through a simple USB connector, extending their usability and benefit in every lifestyle. Charging goes up to 50% faster and smoother while you do your work or have fun – whether at home or on the go. The Ai Charger software is available for a variety of chipsets and motherboards from ASUS as well as all desktops, so just click downlaod now and prepare for even more enjoyment!
So, I give it a try. And yes, it changes the “not charging” sign on the battery indicator to a charging sign with percentage. And yes, it charges my iPad. However, I cannot say that it charges 50% faster or not as I have not tested it enough.
Previously, I have been charging my iPad with the USB 2.0 port without any issue (even though with the “NOT Charging” sign). With this software, I can say that it helps me to know how much percentage of battery I have on my iPad while charging.
If you wish, do try it at your own risk as I have seen some comments that it hanged up the computer.
