No, I did not get to hands on a JooJoo. Although Fusion Garage is a Singapore company, it chooses to open its market to the US (which is big, of course) and the hands on videos are from Engadget and Gizmodo. Surprisingly, both have mentioned that the JooJoo is a solid device. However, the keyboard is something that is of minimal use and the pricing is something to ponder about.
It seems like Fusion Garage (FG) chose to meet them individually. So, both videos have slightly different content, which is good.
Specs
First of all, FG is very uptight over the specs of this device. Of course, we know it has a 12.1-inch capacitive screen, no keyboard and other things that was mentioned in the previous post.
- 12.1-inch capacitive touchscreen
- Browser Based OS on Linux
- 2.4 pounds
- No keyboard
- 4GB SSD
- WiFi (no 3G)
- Accelerometer
- Battery life of about 5 hours
- Boots up to a web browser (in 9 secs)
- Price: US$499
- Pre-order from 11th December 2009
There are some other things that they observed.
- 1 x USB 2.0 port
- 1 x Power On button
- Audio Jack Port
- External keyboard, Mouse or Headset can be supported via USB or Bluetooth
- 1.6GHz Atom CPU
- 4GB SSD which is used for cache purpose and not storage of files.
- GPU (Nvidia ION ?? – nobody knows at this moment)
There are no 3G SIM Card slot, no HDMI output port which I think they should have it incorporated. However, during the discussion with Gizmodo, Chandra (CEO of FG) did mentioned in future, they may have the 3G SIM card slot incorporated.
Packaging
The packaging is quite nice actually. Anyway, this may not be the final packaging.

Basically, it seems that the color changing background is something that we do not need. The capacitive touchscreen is nice for browsing. However, it seems that the smoothness on the scrolling is lacking when it is not on the browser (ie. swiping the finger to go to different tabs). The lack of a storage means for photos or files is somewhat disappointing.
