Avcen Jetpod Inventor Killed During Freak Test Flight

Jetpod Inventor and pilot, Michael Robert Dacre, was killed in a crash during a test flight of the Avcen JetPod in Malaysia. The Jetpod or “Flying Taxi” is supposed to be available by 2010. This short takeoff and landing (STOL) aircraft is supposed to ferry passengers from airports to city centers. Now that the inventor is killed, I wonder if this project is going to carry on or not.

From the report, it mentions that Michael Robert Dacre wanted to go up alone instead of with a co-pilot. Eye witnesses claimed that they saw the JetPod trying to take off unsuccessfully for a few times before finally taking off into the sky and plunging onto the ground, causing the plane to catch fire.
