Is Google Map with Latitude Accurate on Your Location?

I have been using Google Latitude for the past week. I must say that it is interesting and helpful at times. For example, meeting with friends seems a tad easier as they are able to know your location. Now, you can smoke (bluff) your way out saying that you are near the location. They knows.

Sometimes, it may bring question marks. Example, why am I in Geylang after my working hours? Ha, ha.. thanks to Google Latitude (BTW, I was in the vincinity 🙂 )

However, I have a few good laughs from my friend location. For a few days straight, he was at Guandong, Pakistan or today, he was in Palau Pinang. More after the break.

All these location happens when he was at Changi Airport. Very strange. When he updated the position again, it went back to Changi.

The above picture is somewhere near Pakistan. How he got there, I have no idea.

The below picture is a location in Malaysia, Palau Pinang.

Do you have such strange encounters?

Aside from that, I still think that Google Map has provided me a lot of conviences. For example, I was in the vincinity of a location but I could not find the way. I uses the Google map and with the satellite view, I was able to identify it and lead me to it easily. Of course, I have my Mapking but it is not in Satellite view and the location was not marked on Mapking. That is why Mapking (for this case) is not good enough.

And as for the search, I think it really help if you wanted to find some place near you. This is especially useful if others users had input more information  about that place.
