HTC has posted yet another hot fix for the Touch HD. This time, it is to enhance the Virtual Viewfinder in the Camera mode of HTC Touch HD.
When you use the Camera function to take a picture in a dim environment with super fine quality, sometimes the image will display extraneous (noise) pixels in the viewfinder mode. It’s not a mechanical (LCD) fault but only an intermittent display problem in view finder mode. It does not have any impact on the picture quality or other display functions. If you encounter this problem, please download this hot fix to enhance the virtual viewfinder mode.
Instruction to install: –
Follow the instructions below to download and install the hot fix on your device:
- Make sure you have Microsoft ActiveSync® installed on your Windows XP PC or Windows Mobile Device Center on your Windows Vista® PC. You can find Microsoft ActiveSync from this link or Windows Mobile Device Center from this link.
- Connect and synchronize your device with your PC via Microsoft ActiveSync® or Windows Mobile Device Center using the USB cable.
- To download the hot fix, first select the check box below. Next, select the hot fix and the desired FTP site then click Download.
- Copy the hot fix, which is an .exe file, to your device.
To install the hot fix, tap the .exe file and follow the on-screen instructions.
* If you perform a hard reset of your device, you need to reinstall the hot fix after the hard reset.

I did a very simple check using two HTC Touch HD. One is with the software and one is without the software. The results shows immediately. Although HTC had mentioned that it will not enhance the picture taken, it is good enough because at lower light condition, the Touch HD with the software enhancement actually is smoother and pixel free (almost).
