Press Release

Singapore operators on board with the Nokia Lumia 920 and Nokia Lumia 820

Singapore, 1 November 2012 – All three operators today confirmed that they will sell the Nokia Lumia 920 and Nokia Lumia 820 in Singapore.  This adds to the growing list of operators globally selling the Windows Phone 8 devices.

M1, SingTel and StarHub will add Nokia’s flagship device, the Nokia Lumia 920 to their smartphone portfolio.  They will also carry the feature-rich Nokia Lumia 820.

Nokia Head of Sales for Pan Asia, Mark Trundle said: “We welcome their decision to offer the Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820, which, when added to what we’ve witnessed in other markets, underscores the momentum behind our Lumia devices and the broader Windows ecosystem.  We think the Lumia 920 is going to turn a lot of heads this holiday season.”

The Nokia Lumia 920 includes the latest advances in Nokia PureView imaging innovation such as advanced floating lens technology.  This technology produces smoother videos and also compensates for hand movement while photos are being taken, resulting in clearer pictures.  The camera takes in five times more light than competing smartphones without using flash, making it possible to capture clear, bright pictures and video indoors and at night.

The Nokia Lumia 920 comes with built-in wireless charging capability.  Wireless charging brings a whole new level of convenience to charging by eliminating the need to connect charging cables into the smartphone.  It works simply by placing the Lumia 920 on top of the wireless charging plate.

The Nokia Lumia 920 also comes with Nokia City Lens, the latest addition to the Nokia location suite and the start of a new augmented reality experience that also enhances Nokia Maps. Along with enhancements to Nokia Drive, the Nokia location suite of services represents the most comprehensive, integrated mapping experience of any smartphone.

The Nokia Lumia 820 is an affordable, mid-range smartphone that delivers high-end performance in a compact package. While the Nokia Lumia 820 has the same look and feel as the high end Lumia smartphones, it comes with an exchangeable shell design. Exchangeable shells not only make it possible to select from a range of colors, but also to add wireless charging. Beneath the shell is room to insert a micro SD memory card.

The Nokia Lumia 920 comes in yellow, red, white and black, while the Nokia Lumia 820 comes in black and white, with other colours offered as out of box accessory covers.  Both phones will be available in the pentaband LTE variant.

The Nokia Lumia 920 and Nokia Lumia 820 will be available for sale in early-December 2012.  Pricing will be announced closer to sales start.

In conjunction with the launch, Nokia Lumia consumers will also be able to purchase a range of wireless Nokia accessories for use with NFC-enabled smartphones, thanks to partnerships with JBL and Monster:

  • JBL PowerUp Wireless Charging Speaker for Nokia – PowerUp is the world’s first wireless charging docking station speaker, which means it can charge a Nokia Lumia while it’s streaming music. It features NFC and Bluetooth connectivity in retro styling.
  • JBL PlayUp Portable Wireless Speaker for Nokia – a portable speaker that uses Bluetooth and NFC to wireless stream music from your Nokia Lumia device.
  • Nokia Purity Pro Wireless Stereo Headset by Monster – a high-definition over-ear stereo Bluetooth headset with active noise cancellation.
