HTC Desire Launch Event Coverage – Video Within

HTC officially launches Desire in Singapore on the 14th May 2010 (Friday). I was invited to the event. It was a no frill, simple event at Suntec City.

The event started with Mr. Melvin Chua, Country Manager of HTC, giving us a simple welcome speech. Following on, we had Mr. Wayne, product manager of HTC giving us a more in-depth look on HTC Desire.

As this is not the first launch of HTC Desire, HTC decided that hands on is more important. Therefore, they set up many booth where guests can try on the HTC Desire.

Of course, as bloggers, we always like to compare the handsets. We were lucky that guys from Tech65 had their Nexus One (N1) with them. So, we took a few pictures of the HTC Desire and N1 together.

As you can see, the HTC Desire and Nexus One is quite similar. However, the N1 feels heavier. BTW, HTC Desire is on the right while N1 is on the left.

Next, I took out my HTC HD2 and did a picture with the two Android phones.

Actually, we were trying to see the effect of the camera on the screen. It seems that the HD2 and Desire can produce much better color balancing (based on the picture).

The size of the HTC Desire is quite handy with a nice 3.7-inch AMOLED capacitive screen.

And since the start of Legend handset, HTC has started using optical joystick (instead of trackball).

The HTC Desire is not thick and it feels comfortable on the hand, although I wish there are other colors.

As mentioned, HTC had set up many booths for us to hands on the Desire. They have also set up cushioned seats for us. Here, you can see Farena explaining the functions of HTC Desire to us.

And I did a short clip on the outlook of HTC Desire and also the Screen Leap function.

And on the wall, I found an interesting video of HTC showing us the timeline of their products. You will be amazed that many products were actually part of HTC (XDA and etc).

Watch this HTC Quietly Brilliant Story video.

That is all. Enjoy..
