Come and Touch The Future with Dell Event

I was invited to “Come and Touch The Future with Dell” Event. In the invitation, there was no mention of any products. It just stated that Dell will showcase the future of mobility. In my mind, there were a few products that I thought they might show. That is the latest Adamo XPS and the Alienware M11x. Both were hot items in CES 2010. The event was held at 72-13 Mohd Sultan Road.

We were greeted with a large crowd of media people from Singapore and around the region. I was quite surprised that the event started quite promptly. We were greeted by Ian Chapman-Banks, General Manager, Asia Pacific Consumer Division from Dell.

The first product he showed was the Adamo XPS.

It is very thin. At 1.44kg, it is not the lightest but with the super thin form factor, it really makes it stand out among the rest.

And now, comparing it with iPhone.

And look at the back. It has two speakers behind it. The battery is detachable and super slim.

Next, we were shown the Dell Studio XPS 8100.

Behind Ian, you can see some designs of the cover of popular laptop models.

Here is a better view of the design.

We moved on to the home theater system of the Zino HD. Ian showing off a movie played on it.

We then moved on to Inspiron One 19 (Touch), a Multi-touch screen computer that you can basically forget about the keyboard.

Now, we are ushered to another corner of the hall where we were greeted by this vintage Vespa scooter.

Ian is holding on to a Dell Mini.

This is not Dell first mini. However, I like this latest mini for its design. Very sleek.

We were also introduced to other model of the Inspiron family. After this, we were free to move around before the next big announcement, Alienware M11x.

What is the best way to introduce a Gaming Laptop? Of course, Dell got hold of Singapore’s best gamer, StrykerX, from Team Titans. He talks about the frustration of not being able to play game on the move with their bulky laptops. However, with M11x with a 11.6-inch screen size and slightly above 2kg, it has help them to play game when on the move.

He was then joined by two lady gamers who has different usage of the M11x.

One of them used it to play Facebook games.

And another, used it for gaming.

Dell is trying to show that Alienware M11x is for everyone, not just gamers.

What is the best way to test the M11x performance. Of course, it is to play games on it. We were honored to have Team Titans to be here to demonstrate Alienware Gaming laptops.

Of course, the M11x is also being used on the game.

The Media was given a chance to play with our National team. 4 against 2 professional. It is a bargain.

And here is our winner. The Media did not beat the Pro. Nevertheless, the highest scorer from the Media is non other than Tiffany.

The contest went on for the second round before the event came to an end.

We (DK, Daniel from Tech65.org and I) got a chance to let Nicholas from Alienware walk through with us on the M11x.

Personally, I think Alienware has done a good job to make this gaming laptop, M11x, so portable and customizable. That is it for this Dell event.
