The #MadeByGoogle event has just ended and we now know that Google has 3 new products – Google Pixel 3 (and Google Pixel 3 XL), Google Pixel Slate, and Google Home Hub.
One of the most interesting products that will come to Singapore is the Google Pixel 3. Can’t wait to get my hand on it.
Google Pixel 3
The Google Pixel 3 series comes in two sizes – the Pixel 3 with 5.5-inch screen and the Pixel 3 XL with 6.3-inch screen. Both have 4 GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of storage. And as with any Pixel phone, there is unlimited storage for your photos on Google Drive. There is no external storage option.
And living up to the tradition, Google chooses to have one rear camera while other brands are coming up with dual or triple rear cameras configurations.
Love the choice of pastel colors for the Pixel 3. Doesn’t look like it will be a fingerprint magnet.
Note: If you cannot see, maybe you have to change the “country” setting on the website to US (scroll to the bottom).
And check out this accessory for Google Pixel 3, the Pixel Stand. It can become an album display, alarm clock and with the built-in Qi Charging, I am sure it will sell like hotcakes.
During the event, Google shows how they have integrated Google Duplex into the Pixel 3. For example, you can let Google Assistant (with Duplex) answer the call on your behalf. It will transcribe the conversation so that you will know who called and what he/she wanted based on the questioning by Google Duplex technology. Amazing and scary technology.
Pixel 3 will be available in Singapore. Based on the presentation during the event, it will be from 1st November 2018.
Pricing wise, here are the US pricing: Pixel 3 from USD799 and Pixel 3 XL from USD899.
Google Pixel Home Hub
I love this product. Really hope that it can come to Singapore (at the moment, I don’t think so). In my opinion, it is like Google Home but with a 7-inch LCD screen. And it is definitely smarter and more useful than Google Home.
As the name implies, it is a hub. It can control the smart devices in your home. It can become your alarm clock and when you wake up, it can show you your entire day event.
With the screen, you can watch YouTube Premium or YouTube Music Premium which Google has rolled out. You can get the Google Assistant to answers your queries too.
It is not available in Singapore. Price at USD149.
Google Pixel Slate
Running on Chrome OS, this is a light and useful tablet if you have many Android applications and can make do without a proper keyboard. Of course, you can buy the cover with keyboard.
It is not available in Singapore. There are many variants of it (different capacity and processors) and price starts from USD599.
