You are reading it right. Facebook Stories is rolling out to everyone. Remember how it started with the original Snapchat, and then Instagram introduces Instagram Stories. Recently, WhatsApp introduces WhatsApp Status. All these apps feature a unique 24-hours timeframe before your contents “disappear”. Now Facebook Stories has the same unique feature and comes with filters too.
I am at a loss for words to describe this new Facebook Stories. It is an exact rip-off of Snapchat. And Facebook is making it like they invented it. Of course, there are slight differences but they are not big. You can say that Instagram and Facebook are from the same company. Therefore, it is common to share successful feature. I believe Facebook must have seen the potential of these disappearing stories to incorporate it into its main app.
Currently, the feature is rolling out to all Android or iOS Facebook app (not sure when it will arrive, though). What is super interesting (for me) on Facebook Stories is the filters. Facebook is leveraging on them on a bigger scale. For example, Facebook is partnering with brands to create masks for upcoming movies like Alien: Covenant, Despicable Me 3, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Power Rangers, Smurfs: The Lost Village and Wonder Woman. Check out the screenshots below.
Here is an intro video of Facebook Stories.
So, what are your thoughts? With so many apps that have almost the same features, which one will you use?
