Sharks will tweet their location on Twitter

This is why I love technology. Australia is using technology to warn people of potential shark attacks by tagging the sharks. If the sharks are near the beach, it will automatically trigger a tweet with its location to a Twitter account.

The scientists had tagged 320 sharks. When one is near the beach, its position, as well as size and species, will then be shared over at Twitter using the  Surf Life Saving WA (SLSWA) Twitter feed. This is really great as it is automatic and faster than getting someone to report sighting of a shark.

Of course, since not all sharks are tagged, being vigilance is still the best way to enjoy the beach. Of course, you can wear this for extra protection
