StarHub introduces new suite of unlimited HD Voice and SMS plans with 4G SmartAccess

SmartSurf HD users first in Singapore to enjoy priority access for their 4G data traffic

Singapore, 2 August 2013 – StarHub today announced Singapore’s first suite of mobile post-paid plans known as ‘SmartSurf HD’, enabling Singapore consumers to talk in HD quality and SMS as much as they want, without worrying about what is left in their talktime and SMS bundles. In addition, these subscribers will get between 500MB and 1.5GB of local bundled data for 4G and 3G services. Starting tomorrow, these game-changing plans – SmartSurf HD Value, SmartSurf HD Plus, SmartSurf HD Premium – will be available for subscription at all StarHub Shops and authorised dealers.

Mr Chan Kin Hung, StarHub’s Senior Vice President of Personal Solutions said, “While we see rapid growth in mobile data use, we also recognise that mobile voice and SMS services continue to be the choice of communication mode for a segment of customers who relies heavily on voice calls and SMS in their everyday life. To address the demand, we are introducing three premium mobile plans, which offer unlimited crystal clear HD Voice calls, SMS and prioritised surfing experience over 4G. More importantly, we believe our latest competitive and feature-rich mobile offerings will encourage more users to freely enjoy extended phone conversations in HD quality with complete peace-of-mind.”

StarHub continues to be the only operator to enable natural sounding and clearer mobile voice calls with noticeably lesser background noise through HD Voice. HD Voice is offered free to all StarHub Mobile post-paid customers, including those on SmartSurf HD plans. Currently, 80% of mobile devices that StarHub sells are HD Voice enabled.

Both SmartSurf HD Plus and SmartSurf HD Premium offer unlimited calls to any local number for $88 and $108 a month respectively with a two-year contract. In addition, SmartSurf HD Premium users enjoy free subscription to three popular value-added services – International Roaming, Multi-SIM and 4G SmartAccess – worth $23 a month. Customers who select SmartSurf HD Value will enjoy unlimited calls to all StarHub mobile and fixed line numbers at $68 a month.

4G SmartAccess is exclusively catered to all SmartSurf HD users, offering priority for their 4G data traffic even when the network is heavily accessed. StarHub does this by allocating up to 25% more network resources to them as compared to other mobile users when they connect to any of StarHub’s 4G base stations.
