Hatsune Miku’s fans will be delighted. NTT DOCOMO is going to release Sony Xperia feat in September 2013 that features Hatsune Miku. It is now asking consumers to submit music clips for use as ringtones or application alerts and Hatsune Miku illustrations for use as phone content.
NTT DOCOMO Unveils XperiaTM Smartphone Featuring Singing Synthesizer Humanoid
TOKYO, JAPAN, July 4, 2013 — NTT DOCOMO, INC., a personalized mobile solutions provider for smarter living, announced today its development of a new XperiaTM smartphone featuring Hatsune Miku, a popular humanoid based on the singing voice synthesizer Vocaloid. The “XperiaTM feat. HATSUNE MIKU SO-04E,” developed in collaboration with Hatsune Miku developer Crypton Future Media, INC., is limited to 39,000 units and will go on sale in the Japanese market in late September.
The model’s “Miku color” body is decorated with graphics featuring the Hatsune Miku character. The phone is installed with exclusive content, such as Hatsune Miku wallpapers and an original widget for listening to Hatsune Miku music developed by various creators. A matching “Miku color” NFC-compatible Bluetooth® wireless headset is included.
In a pre-launch campaign from today to July 31, consumers are being asked to submit music clips for use as ringtones or application alerts and Hatsune Miku illustrations for use as phone content. DOCOMO will start accepting preorders for the model from late August online and from early September at docomo Shops.
