DARPA’s robot is no stranger in TechieLobang. You have seen BigDog in action and some of the other robots. Now, DARPA has managed to get some designs on robot hand that is affordable to manufacture and yet incorporate sufficient dexterity to enable manipulation of objects in their fingers when controlled by a skilled operator.
Watch this video. Look at how it picks up a key and at the last minute of the video, you can see the robot hand using a pincet to pick up a toothpick. Amazing.
I guess the day to see affordable robots doing mundane stuff is about to arrive. With this technology, some dangerous work can also be taken over by these robot hands instead of a real person.
