Canon Unveils Four Feature-Packed Digital IXUS Compact Cameras for a Richer Imaging Experience
The IXUS 255 HS, IXUS 135, IXUS 132, along with the world’s slimmest* 8x long zoom digital compact camera, the IXUS 140, sport new advanced features such as Hybrid Auto, ZoomPlus and Eco mode.
Singapore, 27 February 2013 – Canon Singapore has launched four new digital compact cameras in the IXUS range – IXUS 255 HS, IXUS 140, IXUS 135 and IXUS 132 – power-packed with new and useful features for users who demand more from their nifty gadget.
“Canon has made taking photos and videos with the IXUS more delightful with new features such as the Hybrid Auto mode with Intelligent Stabilizer technologies for both quality stills and videos. Moreover, these digital cameras come in a variety of colours to cater to the different preferences of consumers, especially those who want to make a statement with their compact devices,” said Andrew Koh, Senior Director and General Manager of the Consumer Imaging and Information Products Group, Canon Singapore.
Capturing the full experience
The new IXUS 255 HS captures both stills and videos with its new Hybrid Auto mode that automatically records four seconds of HD video prior to the photo being captured, ensuring that a precious moment is never missed again. This feature is useful in capturing the candid moments before a photo is taken, such as the merrymaking and singing at a wedding or birthday party. To counter blurry images, the Hybrid Auto mode incorporates Canon’s Smart Auto which recognises varied scenes for optimised exposure and Intelligent Stabilizer technologies to automatically identify the settings for optimal compensation, producing non-jerky video footage and crisp stills.
The IXUS 255 HS easily snaps high-quality photos with its 12.1 megapixel high-sensitivity CMOS sensor and a powerful DIGIC 5 imaging processor. With high ISO speeds of up to 6400, photos are sharp even in dimly-lit environments like restaurants and clubs.
Light and handy
At 20.6mm, the IXUS 140 is the world’s slimmest* 8x long zoom digital compact camera. This makes the versatile camera extremely easy to slip into a pocket and is especially suitable for holidays and parties.
Similarly, the IXUS 135 and IXUS 132 weigh a nifty 134g and 133g respectively, making them hassle-free to carry around.

Cover greater distances
The IXUS 255 HS, IXUS 140, IXUS 135 and IXUS 132 are now equipped with Canon’s new ZoomPlus technology to capture the scenes which might be a distance away. Far superior to digital zoom, users can now use ZoomPlus to zoom beyond the optical limit of the lens without having to worry about compromising on image quality. The IXUS 255 HS uses a 10x optical zoom lens (24-240mm) while the IXUS 140, IXUS 135 and IXUS 132 each has an 8x optical zoom lens (28-224mm). Together with ZoomPlus, the zoom levels are expandable to 20x and 16x respectively.
Eco Mode for More Photos, More Fun
Nothing spoils a party faster than running out of batteries in the middle of a celebration. To prevent that from happening, the IXUS 255 HS, IXUS 140, IXUS 135 and IXUS 132 cameras come with a new Eco mode which allows users to shoot more photos at a single charge and also dedicate more power to sharing through Wi-Fi. This feature also automatically dims the LCD when it is inactive, increasing the battery life of the camera so that users can to shoot up to 30 percent more photographs.
Easy sharing with Wi-Fi
Equipped with Wi-Fi capability, the IXUS 255 HS, IXUS 140 and IXUS 135, through the free Canon CameraWindow app (available for both iOS and Android), can upload photos and HD videos to popular social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. This feature is especially useful during vacations as it allows for the easy transfer of photos to other Canon Wi-Fi-enabled cameras or computers. Enhancements to Canon’s Wi-Fi interface makes it extremely easy to connect to wireless networks, mobile devices like smartphones, and the Canon Image Gateway (CiG) cloud service^. Moreover, by linking the camera to a smartphone via the Canon CameraWindow app, photos and movies can be saved on both devices simultaneously, bringing more convenience to users.
^CIG is available in selected countries only.
