Thanks to BlackBerry (BTW, they are no longer calling themselves RIM – Research in Motion), I was invited to the launch of BlackBerry Z10. Here are some pictures and videos of the BlackBerry Z10.
There are two colors to choose during launch (7th March 2013). They are the White and the Black color. The picture above is the white color BlackBerry Z10.
Hardware
Here is one more front view shot without the screen turn on.
From the close up, you can see that it is not the retail side.
Sorry I did not take the back as it was attached with the alarm cable. Here is the top and bottom view.
Top View
As you can see, there is only one power on button and the 3.5mm earphone jack port.

Side view
This is the volume rocker switch.
The volume down button acts as the shutter button for the camera.
Software
You may have noticed that the BlackBerry Z10 has NO physical button except for volume and power on. The rest of the function are actually based on gestures.
As the BlackBerry 10 is a new OS, it takes a little while to get used to. I believe once you get used to the OS, it will be a breeze to open up the applications or browse around the phone.
I did a short video on the OS.
As you can see in the video, I am not very familiar with BlackBerry 10 OS. During the Press Conference, we were shown one of the apps on the BlackBerry Z10. It is the Story Maker app. It is actually an app that allows you to gather your video and photos to make it into a video presentation.
It is very easy to use. Here is a demo on it.
Summary
Overall, I think the BlackBerry 10 (the OS) is very smooth and fast. However, I feel that when you compare BlackBerry Z10 (the device) with other competitors, it feels inferior in the quality.
The bezel is actually quite thick and the design itself feels dated. The 8 megapixels camera is very “normal”. Under low light condition, it will not perform. Nevertheless, I have not actually used it for a long time to make a neutral judgement. So, do not based on my words. You have to see and try it yourself.
The BlackBerry Z10 is now ready for Pre-Order from SingTel and you can register your interest with StarHub or M1. The BlackBerry Z10 will be available from 7th March in Singapore.
