TomTom app for iPhone, iPad and iPad mini has been updated. With this update, it will support iCloud. Users can now backup the app settings to iCloud. It can now save favorite POIs and store destination in the iCloud via 3G or WiFi.
Here are the new features and enhancement: –
- iCloud support
Drivers will never lose their app settings. This feature saves their favourite POIs and stored destinations in the iCloud, via 3G or Wi-Fi. The app automatically backs itself up to the cloud, once a day, either when it starts up or when it is running in the background. If drivers have multiple devices, each device setting is backed up separately. - Bluetooth connectivity is faster with the new update. This means spoken navigation instructions given over in-car audio systems are much clearer.
Other features of the TomTom Navigation app:
- FREE LifeTime maps
Drivers will receive four map updates every year for the lifetime of their app. Each new map will be bundled with an update to the app which drivers can download from the app store for free. - Offline maps
Drivers can always access their maps, even without mobile signal, and won’t incur costly roaming charges when driving abroad.
- IQ Routes™ technology
Only TomTom uses actual speed data collected from its millions of drivers to accurately calculate the travel time of a route. It takes into account rush hour, traffic lights… even shopping crowds. - Map Share™ technology
Thousands of daily updates made by TomTom drivers, free of charge. - Spoken street names
Spoken instructions including street names. - Search TomTom Places and POIs
Offline database of thousands of Points of Interest. - Search and navigate with Facebook™ and foursquare™
Drivers can plan routes to events, navigate to thousands of Facebook places and check in to their destination with foursquare. - TomTom Speed Cameras
TomTom Speed Cameras alerts drivers to fixed and mobile speed camera locations, thanks to real-time updates. Available via in-app purchase. - Fixed Speed Cameras (Free)
Comes with fixed speed camera alerts pre-installed. Camera locations are updated free of charge with every new app release. - Multi-stop routes
Supports up to five waypoints on a single journey. - Help Me! Emergency menu
Provides local emergency service information. From hospitals to roadside assistance, this information will be useful in any area. - Seamless navigation while calling (iPhone 3GS/4/4S/5 only)
Continuous visual instructions, even when drivers are on a call.

TomTom updates its navigation app for iPhone, iPad and iPad mini
New version offers iCloud support to store customers’ personal settings
Singapore, 13 February 2013 – TomTom has launched the latest version of its navigation app for iPhone, iPad and iPad mini. With the update, customers can now save their personal app data – such as recent destinations and favourite POIs – in the cloud. This means that when they update their TomTom app in the future, they won’t lose any of their settings.
With the new update, the app automatically backs your settings up to iCloud. If drivers have multiple devices each device settings is backed up separately.
In addition, customers will get a new, up-to-date version of their map as part of TomTom’s FREE Lifetime Maps service. TomTom is the only navigation app provider to give its customers four free map updates every year. This ensures that TomTom customers always drive with the most accurate routing.
The TomTom Navigation app for iPhone, iPad and iPad mini v1.13 is available to download now from the Apple App Store. People already driving with the app can update for free.
