Just received update #29 from the Pebble team. The Pebble watch will be shipping from 23rd January 2013. It has been a long wait. The team took the opportunity at CES 2013 to host a Press Conference to reveal the date.
It took the team 9 months after the campaign ended to deliver a delivery date on the Pebble watch. But I must say that the team is constantly in touch with the backers to update the progress.
And it is always nice that they added features on the watch without telling us (backers). The Pebble watch will now have: –
- Magnetometer – we’ve added this in so you’ll have compass-like functionality
- Ambient light sensors – your Pebble watch will be able to understand how much light is available in its current environment
And one of the really, really great news is the team has designed something so nice to charge the watch. It is using a magnetic charging cable to charge the phone.
Not sure when I will receive mine but I hope it will be fast. With all the good news, there is one piece of not-so-good news. That is, the integration software with Runkeeper will NOT be ready during the shipment. According to the update, it might be ready in March 2013.
I hope there will be no more delay as I think there are already similar watch in the market already (check this out and this)
