Nokia has mentioned in its blog that when Nokia Lumia 820 is made available, it will have variation of shells (or back casing) to choose from. One of them is the ruggedized shell that is not only look nice, it does not add a bulge to the phone too.
So, instead of most rugged casing, Nokia chooses to make it simple. It will be thicker than the standard shell and will have protection at the corners of the phone as they are the areas more prone to accidental hits.
This softer shell is also made from PC/ABS but has another rubber-like material around the front and the edges. It covers the back, as you’d expect but also stretches around the front slightly to protect the edges of the screen and the corners – the most at risk area if you drop your phone. These will be available in matte yellow, green and orange with a black TPU trim.
Here is how you can change the cover.
It is not sure if these ruggedized casings will come with the wireless charging option or not. It makes no sense not too, anyway. Up till today, we have no release date of either the Nokia Lumia 820 or the Nokia Lumia 920. Will update if there is a date for both devices.
