Virtual Avatars to Address Travelers’ Needs at Airport (Video)

In the near future, you may be talking to a virtual avatar in the airport. But right now, you can only see her and her her programmed speech. These avatars are not cheap and will be installed in some North America airports.

These avatars are on loan for half a year for USD180,000 at the JFK, LaGuardia and Newark Liberty airports. They are designed by Arius Media and these avatars are called the Airport Virtual Assistant (AVA). It has an image of a talking person being displayed on a human-shaped section of clear plexiglass. Here is a video to show you how it works.
