eBay and SingPost to boost online export trade in Singapore with new ePAC service
Enhanced shipping service to United States made possible in collaboration with U.S. Postal Service
SINGAPORE, 12 January, 2012 – eBay and SingPost today launched ePAC, a new shipping service for eBay Singapore sellers in collaboration with the United States Postal Service. By using ePAC, eBay Singapore sellers can receive enhanced international tracking and delivery of lightweight goods, not exceeding 2kg, from Singapore to the United States within 6 to 8 working days. In addition to providing sellers and their U.S. customers with a faster, more convenient and affordable shipping solution, this service is also part of eBay and SingPost’s ongoing efforts to boost trade from Singapore to the United States.
From today, eBay Singapore sellers can start using ePAC via a fully integrated platform at http://apacshippingtool.ebay.
The tool also gives U.S.-based customers tools to easily track and confirm delivery via their My eBay account, giving increased peace of mind to buyers who appreciate the great value available from Singapore-based eBay sellers.
“Singapore sellers on eBay are highly regarded for combining good quality products at great value. This is primarily why this market has the second largest sales in Southeast Asia after Thailand,” said Mr. Oliver Hua, Chief Operating Officer, Greater China, Southeast Asia and Japan, eBay Marketplaces.
“We foresee ePAC playing a vital role in driving Singapore’s online exports to the United States as demonstrated by a similar shipping service launched with China Post and the U.S. Postal Service in September 2010, which is already processing more than 90,000 parcels a day.”
“This jointly developed service is another effort to provide a reliable and affordable delivery solution to a rapidly growing global community of online shoppers, and in this case, the U.S. buyers. E-commerce in Singapore has grown significantly over the last few years as more Singaporeans are embracing an e-lifestyle. SingPost is keen to play a big part in this growth and is offering value e-commerce fulfilment and logistics solutions in Singapore and the region,” said Mr. Woo Keng Leong, Executive Vice President (Postal), SingPost.
“The U.S. Postal Service has established a strong relationship with eBay by providing a visible shipping solution to eBay sellers in Singapore,” said Mr. Paul Vogel, President and Chief Marketing / Sales officer of the U.S. Postal Service. “We realize the great potential of eCommerce between Asia Pacific and the United States. This arrangement to offer ePAC in Singapore will help meet the demands of eBay buyers in the United States.”
