Adobe Confirms End of Flash Player for Mobile, Steve Jobs Wins

Adobe announces their focus onto HTML5 and Adobe Air in their blog. And one of the major announcement is they  will no longer continue to develop Flash Player in the browser to work with new mobile device configurations (chipset, browser, OS version, etc.).

Looking back about more than a year ago, Steve Jobs actually give his thoughts about Flash on his Apple website. It mentioned Flash being the PC-era technology and falling short on many areas when it comes to the mobile era.

It created such bad feeling that  Adobe posted “Moving Forward”, obviously targeting at Steve Jobs’ comments. In their post, they mentioned moving away from Apple and focusing the then Flash 10.1 on Android and mentioned that Flash enabled devices “will be arriving”.

Now, it seems that Adobe will focus on HTML5. I cannot blame them. Many websites are changing their codes to enable HTML5 and many sites with Flash are not working “perfectly” on mobile devices. It is good that Adobe is “moving forward” and at the same time, still supporting Adobe Air package for apps.
