Nokia has Comprehensive Prototype Security and Protocol

WPCentral has managed to get a picture of the rumored Nokia Sabre Windows Phone device. Although the article revolves around if the phone has a front facing camera or not, I am more interested in the site that was printed on the phone.

As you can see, there is an URL on the left corner of the screen.

http://proto.nokia.com

Not surprisingly, it turns out to be a registration site for Nokia employees with Prototype phones. So, I guess the picture above is not the final product (hopefully, they can add in a front facing camera).

Probing further, you can see the Security Instructions like what if you want to transfer to someone else or to monitor the status of the Prototype phone.

A summary of what you should/should not do.

Here are the interesting ones:

Information leakage via lost or stolen prototypes can cause Nokia serious harm. Any leakage due to gross negligence will lead to disciplinary action.

  • Do not show prototypes to anyone without a valid business reason.
  • Do not use prototypes of un-launched programs outside approved facilities without prior approval from Nokia Product Program Management.
  • Lost or stolen prototypes must be reported to the program’s Nokia Proto Manager, Nokia Corporate Security (scs@nokia.com) and your Line Manager. Additionally a report of an offence must be made to local Police.
  • When not in use, keep prototypes in locked cabinets or other monitored environments.
  • Use protective cover to hide the prototype design if such is provided by the product program.
  • Do not picture or blog about the prototypes or their features on the internet.
  • If you must picture e.g. a mechanical failure, take a close-up instead of photographing the whole device. Watermark the picture.

I guess whoever that leak the Nokia Sabre picture has not read these security information
