Japan Ministry of Defence (Japan Self Defence Force) has develop a sphere shape drone that has a top speed of 60km/hr. And its parts (almost all) can be easily purchased from shops in Akihabara, Japan. Camera can also be mounted onto it.
I think this design is good in the sense that it protects the rotor blade from damage if it hit the trees or structure. However, it looks bulky and if you use it for surveillance, it will just attract the attention. Nevertheless, it seems agile at climbing stairs and watch how it lands.
