Nokia X7 with Symbian Anna Hands On (Video)

I was invited for a short preview session with Nokia. Prior to this preview, I imagine X7 to be similar to N8 and actually, not very excited over it. However, once I touches it, it feels different and with Symbian Anna, I must say that it looks good.

Click HERE for the press release. For my first impression, it feels nice to hold Nokia X7 on your palm. The back is slightly curve and it makes the device sits nicely in your hand.

The Nokia X7 has a stainless steel body with scratch resistant glass.

It has the latest OS, Symbian Anna. With Symbian Anna, it boosts a better Ovi Maps, a faster browser and better text input.

Here is the software version and product model of Nokia X7.

It comes with 2 colors. The Silver and the Black.

Here is a close up on the back.

It has a 8-MegaPixel camera. Too back, it is not Carl Zeiss lens.

I always like the hardware from Nokia. It is well built and feels “expensive”. You can see many efforts put into the design of the handset, starting with the MicroSD card and SIM card slots.

I have made a short video to show you how the mechanism works.

Some more pictures on the various sides of the phone.

Top – On/Off Button, 3.5mm jack, MicroUSB port.

Bottom – Microphone

Side – Rocker switch for volume and a camera button.

Nokia, X7 (with a 4-inch screen) is meant to be an Entertainment phone.

The speakers for this X7 is located on the top and bottom of the phone (on the grille).

It may seems awkward (top and bottom speaker) but I guess if you are playing games with the phone tilted horizontally, it might sound better.

And with Symbian Anna, it has an improved Ovi Map. A short video on it.

Overall, I find that the phone is more responsive. I think that it is due to the software. Previously, when you swipe your finger across the screen, the screen will not move until your finger reaches almost to the end of the other side.

In Symbian Anna, you can see that the screen now literally follows your finger. This gives an impression that the software becomes more responsive (shown in the video).

That is it, a short encounter with Nokia X7.
