Capacitive Home Button on iPod Touch Prototype Surfaced

A leaked picture of an unknown version of iPod Touch has surfaced. What is interesting is that it does not have the usual sunk in home button. Instead it is touted to have a capacitive home button.

It has some interesting specs. For example, it has a capacity of 128 Gb. The largest capacity for iPhone 4 currently is just 32 Gb and for iPad is 64 Gb. According to the leak, the model number is MC550LL which might be the upgrade for the 4th generation iPod (MC54xLL).

Personally, I think it might just be a great update for users (if this is true). Have your friends complain to you about insensitive home buttons, or you heard your friends getting new replacement because the button is faulty? I have heard a few cases. And if you look at BlackBerry, they have replaced the trackball with new sensor type. And vendors like HTC are ditching the physical buttons for touch type.

The rumor of Apple ditching the home button  and replaced with multi-touch gestures had actually surfaced earlier this year. At first, when I heard about it, it sounds funny as the iPad or iPhone will have no home button. However, with this leak, it might just be true that the physical home button will be replaced by a capacitive one. What do you think?
