Instagram has rolled out a new update that allows you to search for hashtag (#) like what Twitter has been doing. This is great news as it becomes more organized and users or businesses can now use it to tag on events/promotions and etc.

Before you can have fun with it, you will need to upgrade to the latest Version 1.1. And from your profile page, you can see an additional feature call “Search Instagram”. From there, you can search by Names or usernames or Tags.

Apart from the search, you can now search on the web all the pictures with the same hashtags. Replace [hashtag name] with the hashtag you want to search. To me, it is like a category where I can search for the information (pictures, in this case) that I wanted.
