Wow, with the increase in Smartphones and more companies adopting to using AMOLED, HTC is one of them to be hit by AMOLED screen shortage. According to Engadget, HTC may need to swith to Super LCD (or SLCD) this year to meet the demand for smartphone users.

According to the report, there is no differences in the performance. HTC has narrowed down to Sony to supply these Super TFT LCD (SLCD). Based on the latest test (not scientific), the TFT LCD and Super AMOLED has similar results under the sun, while the AMOLED lacks slightly behind.

That means if HTC is to use Super LCD, it should fare better in sunlight (my opinion). Anyway, HTC has yet to confirm how they may want  to differentiate the differences in the screen when they launch them in the market.
