LG INFINIA series Official Launch Event Coverage – Video Within

It was a hectic Friday as many events were in the same afternoon. LG event is the first one on my list. It was LG’s official launch of their 3D HDTV and 3D Blu-ray player. There were quite a number of media and bloggers at the event.

The event was held at a tentage just outside Ngee Ann Civic Plaza. LG has engaged many models to ensure that guests are well taken care of. Here is a pic of two of them.

All the guests had their pictures taken using Fujifilm FinePix Real 3D W1. We were told that LG will email us the picture. I have yet to get mine.

Inside the tentage, there were many guests and those who had visited it yesterday or today will know that they have divided the place into sections so that we can experience LG products properly.

Before the event starts, all the 3D HDTVs were covered up. We were only shown a black card board which says Infinia Series Live Borderless.

The event started with the compere welcoming the guests.

Following on, Mr. Y.W. (Young Woo) Nam, President and CEO of LG Electronics Asia, talks about LG and their vision and of course their latest products.

After that, we had the unveiling session. It was quite short. In stage, we had Mr. Nam, Mr. Arthur Huang and Mr. Clive Chia to officiate the event. Here is a short video clip of it.

The media had some time to take picture of them.

Following that, Mr. Arthur Huang, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of LG Electronics Singapore, provided some information on their products, especially the fact that the 3D HDTV has more than a thousand sensors and the borderless design that was incorporated on their latest range of HDTV. He also mentioned and showed us the differences in the quality with the 400 Hz refresh rate.

After the presentation, we have the usual media Q&A.

Some asked the time line for future 3D TV without the special glasses. LG replied that the technology is already available but still need improvement. And we were given information that people who buy the 3D HDTV during the roadshows will get the TV and also the Blu-ray player(BX580) at no additional cost.

After the Q&A, we were divided into 4 groups (using the color of our lanyard) to visit the exhibits. My first stop is the wireless section.

We were shown how LG can interface with various devices wirelessly. We were also shown how the HDTV can be used to browse the net and watch Youtube video.

I think the each session is too short and chaotic. We can barely hear him talking as the compere is still talking over the mic. And if someone asked some questions, he will definitely not able to complete his demo (as in our case).

Next, the 3D movie section. We went into a room to watch a short movie on 3D. We were given special 3D glasses. However, do note that these glasses are different to the ones used for LG 3D TV.

The 3D effect is very good, I must say.

Next, we went to the next section. That is the Fujifilm section. I asked if the technology used on Fujifilm is the same as LG and was told that it is different and this event is a collaboration between Fujifilm and LG.

The front and back.

In my opinion, the compact 3D camera is very bulky. It uses SD card as storage. According to Fujifilm, it takes 2 picture on one short. One is in Jpeg and the other one is in MP (multiple pictures, if I am correct). The LCD can immediately show you the 3D effect which I think is cool. However, to print out the pictures in 3D, you will need some special software.

Here is a short clip on this FinePix Read 3D W1.

Next section is on gaming. There is a model of the Formula One (F1) car simulator and the route is actually the Singapore race route. Some of us tried the simulator. Here is a short clip on it.

Lastly, we went to the 3D HDTV section. There were different scene on those picture. I watch one on racing and I think it is good. The champagne pouring session on the winners were so 3D that you will think that the champagne is actually shooting towards your direction.

Here is Chester with the eyewear.

Here are some close ups of the eyewear.

It is battery operated and you can charge it. There is a on/off buttons on the side.

It fits well on an Asian face. I wonder if it will fit nicely on non-Asian face or with someone wearing glasses.

This is one of the largest HDTV I saw during that day.

And it is very thin. We used the thumb as a gauge to let you see how thin it is (this shot is out of focus, btw).

Hope that you enjoy this coverage.
